Description of the examination performed by the doctor
The examination usually takes more than ten minutes. The patient sits with their eyes closed. An ultrasound (US) probe is placed on the eyelids, covered with a small amount of gel, and when properly directed, the examined structures can be visualized on the scanner’s monitor, and their measurements can be taken.
The diagnostics concludes with the printing of a set of images, together with measurements of the structures under examination. The printouts are supplemented with a description, made by the examining doctor, before being forwarded to the referring doctor.
Contraindications to ultrasound evaluation of the eye and orbit
No medical contraindications. The examination can be performed in patients of any age, including pregnant women and young children, and can be repeated many times.
