Preparation of the patient for eye examination
What do you need to know before your eye examination?

The patient should:
- arrive 20 minutes before the appointment,
- not wear eye make-up (mascara, eyeliner, eye shadow, fluid), as the doctor, examining the eye under magnification, must be able to accurately assess the condition of the eyelid skin, the condition of the eyelashes and the eyelid margin
- take a break from wearing contact lenses 2 days before the appointment
- prepare information on medications, allergies and chronic diseases used
IMPORTANT! If the appointment is to qualify for lens or corneal surgery (cataract removal, refractive lens exchange, phakic lens implantation, laser vision correction), it is necessary to take a break from wearing soft contact lenses for at least 1 week before the appointment or hard contact lenses at least 3 weeks before the appointment. This is essential for taking accurate measurements of the eye, which determine the outcome of the procedure.
Pupil dilation drops may be used at the appointment, which can cause blurred vision and difficulties with driving and reading, lasting for several hours.
The length of stay at the centre can be up to 120 minutes, as additional diagnostic tests may be required.
Please note that the time of your appointment at the SPEKTRUM may sometimes be delayed, as each patient is treated individually, and specialists need to take their time.
If you are ill (cold, runny nose, fever), please postpone your appointment.
