- soft and hard contact lenses
- aids for the visually impaired
- medical devices such as lubricating drops, supplements and eyelid edge hygiene products
Sunglasses with UV filter and polarisation – these are essential optical accessories. They are an indispensable addition to daily outdoor movement. On the way to school, work or university, everyone is exposed to sunlight. Regardless of the season, UV light is equally harmful to delicate eyes. Right polarised sunglasses reduce the sun’s rays going straight into the eyeball. improving colours and contrast.
Everything is selected by our qualified optometrists and ophthalmologists.
Who is an optometrist?
An optometrist is a person who has completed a university degree and gained practice in refractive testing. Thanks to their competence, they help patients who have problems finding the right glasses, optical aids or lenses. Just like doctors, they are an irreplaceable support. They select appropriate aids for patients to correct their vision defects and take into account individual preferences. Our optometrists have helped many patients with various visual impairments, including SPEKTRUM employees. They are a real guide for every patient looking for appropriate lenses and glasses.
At SPEKTRUM, optometrists are an integral part of the team. They put a lot of passion and, of course, knowledge into their work. They are full of kindness towards every patient. They always listen to his or her preferences and combine the information gained with expertise. Optometric examinations are the foundation for them. With the results, they know how to help the patient correct the defect. The optician is equipped with the right equipment to enable them to do this. They treat each case individually.

At SPEKTRUM, the optician’s is located on the first floor right next to the doctors’ offices. At the optician’s, you can be equipped with the necessary accessories to suit your visual impairment, i.e., glasses, spectacle lenses and contact lenses. Our optometrists will carry out specialist eye examinations on site. An optometric examination is the first step to healthy vision. The optometrist is a place where every patient will receive professional optometric care. They can count on help and advice and the availability of accessories.
What optometric examinations will you experience at the optician’s?
- selection of glasses
- selection of soft lenses, including individual lenses
- selection of prism glasses
- examination of binocular vision
Soft lenses – manufactured from thin and oxygen permeable material. A distinction is made between hydrogel and silicone-hydrogel, which can be worn around the clock. In addition, they are imperceptible to the eye, so pleasant to wear. They are as easy to clean as they are to put on, and this adds to the comfort.
Prism glasses – these are glasses with specially designed lenses that are essential for people struggling with strabismus. By refracting light, the prism directs it appropriately onto the retinas. Therefore, these spectacles enable the correct positioning of the eyeballs when looking near and far. Despite their specialised name, their appearance is not particularly different from ordinary glasses. The prisms combat double vision and provide comfortable functioning for people struggling with binocular vision impairment.
At the facility at ul. Olszewskiego 58, there is a second optical outlet specialising in children’s spectacle optics.
How do I prepare for an optometric examination?
The patient should come to the examination well-rested and have a note with him or her of all conditions treated and medications taken. It would also be useful for him or her to know when and what the last examination was. It is important for the optometrist to know the family history of visual impairment.

- Examination with specialised equipment – is based on measurements taken by an autorefractometer while analysing the eyeballs.
- Subjective examination – is an additional part of the examination by which the optometrist collects measurements. In this section, the patient answers questions using tangible tests.
What disqualifies a patient for an optometric examination?
The day before the test and on the day of the test, the following should be minimised:
- fatigue
- prolonged time spent at the computer
- reading
- stress and tension
- emergency
Can children have an optometric examination?
Yes! An optometrist can fit contact lenses for teenagers if the appointment is preceded by an examination with an ophthalmologist. A child’s eyesight is developing and shaping, but properly fitted spectacles or lenses promote daily functioning. Whether at school, in extra-curricular activities or spending free time in the playground, lens technology is constantly improving. Even young patients can use the lenses and apply them themselves. They are thin, comfortable and can be worn for a long time. This guarantees user comfort. For those who prefer glasses, optometrists will select comfortable frames and lenses appropriate for their visual defect. The range also includes prism glasses for children with strabismus.
The eyes are the mirror of the soul. It’s a comparison that alludes to the fact that you can read character from the eyes. Unfortunately, at the same time, it alludes to the delicacy of the eyes. After all, they are a mirror. Therefore, ill-fitting lenses and lenses can not only cause redness, discomfort or burning. They can also cause harm. Optometrists know that their job is just as responsible as that of ophthalmologists. They have been working together for years and take care of patients at a high level, making them feel comfortable during examinations, guaranteeing a friendly atmosphere and professional advice.
